You couldn’t ask for a better match-up. Both the Rays and Phillies feature power pitchers (Myers, Garza) and dominant aces with a full arsenal (Hamels, Shields). Both teams have center fielders that didn’t knock the ball around a heck of a lot during the regular season but are on fire in October (Victorino, Upton). Both also have sluggers capable of changing the game in one swing (Howard, Longoria). They both play long ball a lot, but are capable of small ball too. They have speed (Crawford, Rollins) as well.
The Rays and the Phillies, for all the bragging rights and for the trophy they all fight for. Two very different fan bases, and two teams who thrive at home.
